VATA
They found her barefooted
Where she was tortured and left
Held hostage by love
Now shattered & spent
Please come home to us
We’re your family, we said
She thinks we’re all toxic
And would rather be dead
You see, we had her committed
By police and escort
Locked her up for treatment
She just needed support
Now diagnosed with bipolar
Finally, we can all see
She had a reason to be like this
And the treatments were free
She just had to take it
To want to be better
We tried so hard to get her the help
But all it did was upset her
For she was a flower child
Who wanted to be chemical free
She wouldn't take the injections
Or the ACTT Teams
No scheduled check-ins
No doctors, no shrinks
No flat-lined moods
We're just never in SYNC
The police found her again
During a wellness check this week
They won’t tell us where she is
To them, this situation just isn't unique
Her mother is beyond worried sick
That her daughter will be killed or take her own life
If only she would just come home
We can’t understand why?
But for her, nobody is listening
Nobody will see what she wants
This is her body
Her mind
And the treatments DO come at a cost
She would rather be free
Take the highs with the lows
Find her own way though
But with so much trauma she froze
The fight or flight is too strong
Now with PTSD
She is triggered too often
To make her ends meet
But she is pretty and smart
And knowledgeable about many things
She just needs a new solution
One that won't sting
So for now, she is left somewhere (OUT THERE)
Probably just a few hours from here
We'll have to keep holding out hope
And fighting back fear
I'm sure every day is a struggle
For her and for us
This is truly a nightmare
But in God we trust
